PRESS RELEASE – The Fort Wayne TinCaps anticipate welcoming their 400,000th fan of the 2010 season this weekend, an attendance mark never before achieved in the franchise’s history. “While the 400,000 mark is just a number, it does have significance,” said Mike Nutter, TinCaps Team President. “Reaching a mark like this demonstrates the incredible support the TinCaps receive from their fans and the community. It really places Fort Wayne in the upper echelon in Minor League Baseball nationally.” Of the 176 teams that play affiliated Minor League Baseball, the TinCaps would be one of only 27 teams at any level (including AA and AAA) to draw 400,000 or more fans.
The team has already surpassed the inaugural season’s attendance mark of 378,529 set at Parkview Field in 2009. “Many people thought that year number one would be the high water mark in terms of fan attendance,” said Nutter. “What this season shows is that this community has embraced Parkview Field and the fan-friendly experience of coming to the ballpark. We do not take that support lightly and will continue to provide a first-class experience, at an affordable price, for years to come.”
The TinCaps end the 2010 regular season with a 3-game weekend series against the West Michigan Whitecaps, beginning this Saturday, September 4th.
