Crawdads, Rangers Extend PDC

PRESS RELEASE – The Texas Rangers and Hickory Crawdads announced on Monday that they have extended their Player Development Contract through the end of the 2012 season. The Crawdads have been the South Atlantic League affiliate of the Rangers since the 2009 campaign.

The 2010 season has been the Crawdads most successful campaign on the field since 2007, when the ‘Dads won the second half title en route to a postseason berth, which the team is again in the race for. Throughout the past two seasons with the Rangers, the Crawdads have had 25 prospect promotions to higher levels within the Texas farm system, even as high as the AAA – Oklahoma City RedHawks.

“The Rangers have been a first-class organization to work with since day one, and we could not be more excited to continue our partnership with them for the next two seasons,” said Crawdads General Manager Mark Seaman. “Through recent years, Texas has consistently had one of the top-ranked farm systems in baseball and we look forward to some of the top prospects in the game continuing to take the field here at L.P. Frans Stadium.”

The Rangers also announced that they will keep their AA affiliate in Frisco, Texas, and their Short-Season A team in Spokane, Washington.

“The Rangers are very pleased to be able to continue our relationships with Frisco, Hickory, and Spokane,” commented Rangers Senior Director of Player Development Scott Servais. “The efforts of everyone at those three clubs have helped play into the organization’s success over the last several years. We are happy to be going back.”
