ESPN Page 2 columnist Paul Lukas recently visited Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson (NJ), the deteriorating former 10,000-seat home of the Negro Leagues’ New York Black Yankess and New York Cubans. Efforts have been underway for some time by a local preservation group to save the park, and there is hope. Citizens approved a non-binding referendum last fall for the city to pump $15 million into restoring the historic park, although no dollars have been allocated for the project. The stadium was also recently named as one of America’s 11 most endangered historic places by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Read more and view photos and video here.
