Information received by the Sioux City Journal shows that the American Association’s Sioux City Explorers lost $413,731 in 2005 and $550,575 in 2006. Last season’s attendance of 1,479 per game was the lowest in the team’s history, which indicates the financials haven’t gotten any better. Owner John Roost has continued to subsidize the team, but it is unclear how long this will go on. If the well runs dry, expect the summer collegiate Northwoods League to make a play for the market.
