Pete Goldsby Field in Baton Rouge (LA) will be the site for a new four team summer collegiate league being launched by the Red Stick Amateur Baseball League organization. According to RSABL president and commissioner Locke Wheeler, teams in the RSABL Collegiate Summer League will play twice a week at Goldsby starting June 9 and ending in July.
The RSABL news follows an announcement two weeks ago about a new Louisiana-based summer collegiate league being launched by the Global Scouting Bureau.
For those who may remember, Goldsby was the home park for a couple of failed indy pro clubs, including the Baton Rouge Blue Marlins (2001) from the defunct All-American Association and Baton Rouge RiverBats (2002-2003) from the defunct Southeastern League. Read more here.
