Request for Ballpark Cash Tabled in Huntington

An application by private developers for $50 million in tax-exempt Recovery Zone Facility bonds for development of the RiverPlace project near downtown Huntington (WV) was tabled on Thursday by the West Virginia Economic Development Authority.  The project would include a 2,500-seat baseball stadium for use by Marshall University and a summer collegiate team, hotel and conference center, restaurants, and retail space.  The WVEDA indicated that it could not approve the application because the group did not have formal agreements with Marshall University and West Virgnia Public Port Authority to move forward with the project.  Read more here.
