The Walla Walla Sweets released their 2010 promotional schedule, and the calendar at Borleske Stadium is packed with events geared towards gathering families, as every night of the West Coast League season will see a promotion or special event. The highlight of the promotions includes three scheduled fireworks displays, six giveaway nights, and various ticket promotions to help every member of the community have the chance to attend Sweets games this season.
“Our front office has worked incredibly hard over the past six months to line up great entertainment at the ballpark for this season,” said Sweets general manager Zachary Fraser. “We want to make the return of baseball to Borleske a special one for the community – and the bottom line is to make sure that every fan that leaves the stadium leaves with a smile, a great memory, and the desire to come again often.”
The club also announced that single-game tickets to games will go on sale Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 9 A.M. at the Sweets Shoppe, located in historic downtown Walla Walla at 109 East Main Street, Suite C (next to Lost Boardroom). Single-game tickets will also be available for purchase from home, printing unique barcodes on print-at-home tickets, as the Sweets have implemented a modern-day ticket system at the ballpark that will allow the team to scan barcodes upon entry, ensuring accurate tracking of attendance.
Tickets for nights such as Opening Night presented by Columbia R.E.A (June 8th vs. Wenatchee), Neil Diamond Appreciation Night (July 24th vs. Bend), and “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” (July 31st vs. Bellingham), a night where Sweets players will wear custom pink uniforms, swing pink bats, and wear pink-stitched hats to raise funds for J.U.G.S, a local breast cancer awareness and advocacy group. Players jerseys, bats and hats will be auctioned off following the game, with 100% of the proceeds going to J.U.G.S and their goal to positively impact Walla Walla through awareness and finding a cure for breast cancer.
This season’s promotional schedule also recognizes the contributions that military veterans and senior citizens provide to the community, thanks to a partnership with Home Loan Center of Walla Walla. Veterans (with valid identification) and senior citizens can purchase $4 reserved tickets to select games courtesy of HLC. Fifty reserved tickets have been held and can be purchased at the Sweets Shoppe for the following games:
June 18 vs. Cowlitz
June 20 vs. Cowlitz
July 2 vs. Moses Lake
July 4 vs. Moses Lake
July 23 vs. Bend Elks
July 30 vs. Bellingham
August 1 vs. Bellingham
“We want it as easy as possible for people to buy tickets,” said Fraser. “By allowing fans to buy tickets at the Sweets Shoppe, the ballpark on game nights, and at home, with promotions built for each member of the community, I think that we have accomplished that…and people will have one heck of a time at the stadium this year, that much we can promise.”
