PRESS RELEASE – San Angelo, Texas—-The San Angelo Colts have announced their biggest acquisition in their club’s history. It is not a big name player, coach, or even manager, but the biggest TV in town. The Colts will be building a brand new state of the art scoreboard at Foster Field for the 2010 season.
Colts General Manager Mike Babcock who has worked diligently on getting the new addition to the ballpark over the course of the last few years, officially made it happen today. “It greatly enhances the atmosphere and fun factor of the ballpark as a whole. Our fans have been very supportive of the Colts and Angelo State’s baseball program and we want to improve the ballpark in some manner every season. We will also be announcing additional improvements leading up to opening day, May 27”, said Babcock.
The scoreboard will feature both the Colts, as well as Angelo State University who share Foster Field, and will also be utilizing the scoreboard during their games. The scoreboard is 82 feet wide and 21 feet high, and will sit over the right center field fence. It will feature a fully digital LED scoreboard and 4 x 40 foot sponsorship sign above the scoreboard. Below the scoreboard will include a pair of 4 x 13 foot backlit sponsorship signs as well as a 4 x 13 foot message center.
It will also display the biggest video screen in west Texas featuring a Lighthouse 16’9” x 21” high resolution video board. The video board is being designed and installed through a collaboration of Lighthouse Technologies and Spectrum Scoreboard of Houston, Texas. It is the same screen used at the American Airlines Center, home of the Dallas Mavericks. “Lighthouse JumboVision is thrilled to be a part of the San Angelo Colts stadium technology improvements. Our superior LED video screen technology will deliver flawless images, vibrant colors and fan excitement to the venue. We look forward to a great relationship with the Colts organization”, said Mark Roberts, Lighthouse JumboVision Sales Manager. The monitor will also work in conjunction with three robotic cameras, and a fourth which will be a wireless hand held for on-field promotions, fan cams, and other notable action around the ballpark. The video board will also have instant replay capabilities. On both sides of the video board there will be two rotating 8’9” x 10 foot Tri-Vision signs, as well as two 8’9” x 10 premier backlit sponsorship signs.
The new scoreboard also will enable San Angelo to make a second move.
