PRESS RELEASE – As the weather warms and Fifth Third Ballpark’s field turns green, final preparations are being made for the Whitecaps home opener. But before the gates to the ballpark open on Sunday, April 11 for the Whitecaps first home game of the season, the doors of the Pepsi Stadium Club will open for Tigers baseball.
For the fifth straight season, the Whitecaps will host a Tigers Watch Party for the parent club home opener, which is scheduled for Friday, April 9 at 1:05 p.m. The doors to the Pepsi Stadium Club will open at noon and the game is free to the public. Traditional baseball food including hot dogs, peanuts and beer will be available for purchase; fans will also have the option of purchasing a $10 wristband that will give them unlimited food (hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and cookies) and Pepsi products.
Before catching the Tigers on Friday, the fans will have the opportunity to see the Whitecaps on Wednesday, April 7 when the team takes on Grand Valley State University in a seven-inning exhibition game at Fifth Third Ballpark at 6 p.m. The team opens the season on the road on Thursday, April 8 at the Lake County Captains, one of two new teams in the 16-team Midwest League. The 2010 Whitecaps home baseball season begins on Sunday, April 11 against the defending Midwest League Champion Fort Wayne Tincaps at 2 p.m.
