Pump Jacks Participate in ‘Party in the Patch’ Silent Auction

PRESS RELEASE – The Pump Jacks have spent the last several months introducing fans to the All-Americans, conference players of the week, and All-TCL performers who will suit up for the team during the 2010 season. This weekend, one lucky youngster will be added to the list.

At Saturday’s “Party in the Patch,” the Pump Jacks will make available a package that includes one young fan earning the privilege to serve as the team’s honorary batboy or batgirl for a game this summer. The package is available through a silent auction at the annual fundraiser.

The winner will be able to designate a child to be the Pump Jacks’ honorary batboy or batgirl for one game during the 2010 season. The honoree will dress in uniform, join the head coach for the pre-game meeting with the umpires, and stand with the team on the field during the national anthem. He or she will then get to spend the rest of the game with the players in the dugout!

The child’s family will get to enjoy the game, too, with four Lower Box seat tickets. Lower Box seats, which are the closest seats to the field, also include in-your-seat wait service.

The package can be bid on through the silent auction at the fifth-annual “Party in the Patch”, a fundraiser for the East Texas Treatment Center. Other silent auction items include homemade knives, wine baskets, furniture, and a Holland grill… even a purebred bichon frise puppy!

The silent auction is just part of the festivities, which include a dance, dinner, and live music from the Henderson-based Brooze Brothers band. Dinner is provided by Bodacious Barbecue.

A Texas Hold ‘Em tournament will be held on three tables, with the winner earning a two-night stay at Diamond Jack’s Casino & Resort and a dinner for two at DJ’s Steakhouse in Bossier City.

Thirty stuffed “mystery boots” are also on sale, with the grand prize being a new Apple iPad.

The cowboy theme will extend to the evening’s contests, with prizes being awarded for best hat, best buckle, and overall cowboy and cowgirl. A mechanical bull and karaoke round out the affair.

The event, which runs from 7 pm to midnight, will be held this year at the Martin Hangar at Gregg County Airport. Tickets are $40 each and can be purchased at the door.

The Pump Jacks will open the 2010 season on Wednesday, June 2, when they visit the defending TCL regular season champion Victoria Generals.

The Jacks’ home opener is scheduled for Friday, June 4, against the expansion Texas Tomcats. East Texas will play a 56-game season in 2010 with 28 home games, both record highs. The full schedule can be found by clicking here.

Season tickets for the 2010 season are on sale now. Despite the longer schedule, season ticket prices have not changed since the Pump Jacks arrived in East Texas in 2008. Prices start at $105 – and $85 for children and seniors – saving fans as much as 25%. Season ticket information and an order form can be found here.
