City Council Chooses Ventura Sports Group Over Laredo Broncos

The development of a new baseball stadium in Laredo (TX) continued to move forward last night.  By a vote of 4-3, the Laredo City Council awarded operating control of the new facility to Ventura Sports Group.

The council selected VSG over Laredo Sports Equities, owners of the United League’s Laredo Broncos.  We assume this spells doom for the United League in Laredo, as VSG operates two teams in the American Association and is working on a third in the Houston suburbs.  The new park is expected to open in time for the 2011 season.  View post-vote news clip here.  View pre-vote news clip here.
