Loons Announce Promotions, New Hires

PRESS RELEASE – The Great Lakes Loons are pleased to announce that Dave Gomola has been promoted to the newly created position of General Manager-Dow Diamond Events. Gomola, who has been with the Loons since 2007, graduated from Central Michigan University and has an extensive background in event planning. As the Loons are placing an emphasis on bringing more non-baseball events to the ballpark, Gomola’s position will include both selling and planning a variety of events held at Dow Diamond. In his three-year tenure with the Loons, events planned by Gomola have included weddings, outdoor shows, boat shows and  much more. Gomola and his wife, Stephanie, live in Midland with their two children-Jacob and Maggie.

“Dave’s professionalism and attention to detail has made Dow Diamond a great place to hold any event, from weddings to an outdoor show, sidewalk sales and so much more,” says Scott Litle, Loons Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and Event Operations.

Charlie Dijak was recently promoted to the position of Stadium Operations Manager. Dijak was originally hired in 2007 as part of the grounds crew and has worked in operations since 2008. His new responsibilities include working closely with Matt McQuaid, Vice President of Facilities and Operations on stadium maintenance and improvement projects.

Matt Ellis, a grounds crew intern in 2007, has accepted the position of Head Groundskeeper with the Loons. Ellis’ responsibilities include maintaining the playing field and stadium common areas. Ellis comes to the Loons from the Apple Mountain Golf Club in Freeland, where we was the assistant superintendant. Ellis and his wife, Corenne, live in Saginaw.

Cindy Munro has accepted the position of Accounting Manager for the Loons and Traffic Manager for ESPN 100.9 FM. Munro, a Midland native and SVSU graduate, has worked previously as a bookkeeper as well as a realtor. Monroe lives in Midland with her husband Tim and their son Nik.
