PRESS RELEASE – The Peninsula Pilots Baseball organization has announced that its presenting sponsor for the 2010 season will be Hampton, Virginia’s new Peninsula Town Center. PTC and the Pilots have agreed on a multi-level marketing partnership that creates additional entertainment, exciting new promotions, community outreach programs, and customer appreciation initiatives at War Memorial Stadium and in the Town Center. The announcement comes hours before the Peninsula Town Center’s much anticipated grand opening, which takes place at Thursday March 11th at 9:45AM.
The new 1.1 million square foot mixed-use development is located in the city’s Coliseum Central Business District. The massive redevelopment of the former Coliseum Mall site includes 340,000 square feet of fashion and specialty retail, 55,000 square feet of restaurant and dining, 400,000 square feet of traditional/anchor retail, 115,000 square feet of Class A office space and 158 residential apartment units. New retail tenants in the up-scale town square include Aeropostale, Express, Lane Bryant, Build-A-Bear, The Wine Loft, dELiA’s, Shoe Woo and Victoria’s Secret among many more. The entertainment component is highlighted by the new CineBistro, a high-end movie theatre with luxurious seating, fine dining and premium cocktails and wine in a relaxed environment. A luxury bowling alley mated to a bar and lounge is also part of the CineBistro experience. Fifteen new restaurants are also expected to come online on or very close to the Grand Opening date. Anchors include Target, Macy’s and JC Penny. For a complete listing of PTC’s tenants visit: http://www.peninsulatowncenter.com/.
Peninsula Pilots VP Hank Morgan comments that, “Hampton is uniquely positioned in terms of access to the interstate system and centrality to the overall Hampton Roads market. The diverse and hard-working residents of our area provide a strong foundation for the project’s future success and the planners in the process have obviously worked effectively to meet the needs and wishes of our community. We are blessed to have had the City of Hampton, Mall Properties and Steiner + Associates see this project through to its fruition in a challenging economic environment. That says a lot about their genuine belief in Hampton Roads’ ability to support the major investment that they have made here. Additionally, the decision by PTC’s management to partner with the community’s team, the Peninsula Pilots, in such an exciting way is likely a harbinger of how they intend to carry out responsible civic interaction. They have committed to making the experience at our facility, War Memorial Stadium, memorable and fun for our fans, and we are excited do the same for visitors of the Town Center in the coming months.”
The presenting sponsorship provides that the Peninsula Town Center will be prominent in all of the Pilots’ marketing, promotional and entertainment initiatives. Additionally, every Saturday night Pilots game (6) will become known as ‘Shopping Spree Saturday, presented by Peninsula Town Center’ and will feature a game-tied promotion allowing fans to participate in an opportunity to win a $5000 shopping spree at Town Center shops, restaurants and entertainment venues. More specific details on the contest will be unveiled in early May. Field-level box seats and a Peninsula Town Center Fireworks Night (co-sponsored by Coliseum Central) will give the management at PTC the opportunity to invite customers and tenants to enjoy a relaxing and fun night at the ballpark after a long day of shopping or work. The Peninsula Town Center Night will be fully themed and will be designed to entertain fans and build awareness of the Town Center experience. Peninsula Town Center’s message will also be placed prominently at War Memorial Stadium with the only 8’ x 32’ outfield fence billboard in the ballpark located just below the state-of-the-art scoreboard/messaging center in left-center field. PTC will also have presence on the video center itself intermittently throughout games as well.
“We are thrilled to be Presenting Sponsors of the Peninsula Pilots this year,” says Karen Smith, Marketing Director for Peninsula Town Center. “We’re looking forward to sharing the excitement of our grand opening year with the many families who enjoy Pilots games every season.”
