PRESS RELEASE – Five of the most outstanding entertainment acts in the sports industry will make their way to Blair County Ballpark during the 2010 baseball season.  Headlining the list will be the first-ever appearance by the Famous San Diego Chicken.

“Fans come to Altoona Curve games for a variety of reasons,” said Altoona Curve General Manager Rob Egan.  “Many come for just the baseball, others enjoy giveaways, but we’ve found over the years that top-flight entertainment acts serve our fan base very well and we’re happy to bring a great list to BCB this season.”

Here is a list of the dates of the five entertainment acts that will be held at BCB this year:

THE FAMOUS SAN DIEGO CHICKEN, presented by Tyrone Milling, Inc.
Friday, April 9 vs. Harrisburg (AA – Washington Nationals) at 6:30 p.m.

Named to the Sporting News’ Top 100 most influential people in the 20th century in the sporting industry, the Famous San Diego Chicken will appear at Blair County Ballpark for the first time ever. The Chicken, one of the world’s first mascots, will be appearing on his 36th baseball birthday.  He has been summoned to the White House by three different Presidents (Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush).  Fittingly, The Chicken appearance will be presented to fans in a partnership with a chicken and wild life feed store, Tyrone Milling, located in Ironville, PA.

MAD CHAD APPEARANCE, presented by U.S. Foodservice
Saturday, June 12 vs. New Britain (AA – Minnesota Twins) at 7:00 p.m.

A hit in 2009, “Mad Chad”, the chainsaw-juggling dare devil, returns to Blair County Ballpark.  He will juggle running chain saws on the field in between innings in a variety of scenarios.  Mad Chad will also mix in humorous comments in the middle of his performances to entertain the crowd further.

REGGY APPEARANCE
Saturday, July 24 vs. Trenton (AA – New York Yankees) at 7:00 p.m.

One of the most popular entertainment acts around the country in the minor leagues, Reggy has been a staple at Blair County Ballpark and a fan favorite.  The Purple Party Dude is loved by fans both young and old!

MYRON NOODLEMAN APPEARANCE
Saturday, August 14 vs. New Hampshire (AA – Toronto Blue Jays) at 7:00 p.m.

The zany, super-energetic nerd is back at Blair County Ballpark for the first time since 2008.  Myron has an act that is sure to make everyone at BCB laugh and wonder if the character Jerry Lewis used to play in the old flicks has come back.

ZOOPERSTARS APPEARANCE
Saturday, August 29 vs. Richmond (AA – San Francisco) at 7:00 p.m.

A staple at Blair County Ballpark for years, the Zooperstars have become loved around the world because of the many different character parodies they perform such as: Clammy Sosa (a play off of former big leaguer Sammy Sosa), Derek Cheetah (a cheetah character that resembles Yankees’ shortstop Derek Jeter) and perhaps the most renowned of all is Harry Canary (a bird-like resemblance of renowned Hall of Fame broadcaster, Harry Carry).

This is the third phase of the Curve’s four-phase unveiling of their 2010 promotional schedule.  Tomorrow, fans can expect the complete list of 2010 promotional giveaways for the year.  Fans can reserve their best seats when individual game tickets go on sale at “Baseball Bash” on Friday night from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.  In additional to tickets going on sale for the first time this season, fans can also enjoy a bevy of activities including food and drink, live entertainment, kids activities, a breathtaking fireworks show and the unveiling of a brand new line of merchandise for the 2010 Altoona Curve season.
