Stadium Renovations Underway in Kelowna

PRESS RELEASE – As the weather starts to turn to spring in Kelowna, the renovations at Elks Stadium begin to heat up.  In 2009 the City of Kelowna announced that $870,000 of much needed improvements will be put into the ball park.  The City has promised a new lighting system, backstop and roof over the grandstand area.

The renovations are currently underway as the new backstop support area has been dug and set, while the cement pillars to hold the new lighting system are in place.

The Falcons and the four other user groups of Elks Stadium are hoping the City can stretch the money to improve the washroom facilities, concession, and make the ball park handicap accessible.

The City has given the renovations a completion deadline of March 30th.

The Falcons begin play June 4 on the road in Bellingham before opening the season June 11 against the expansion Walla Walla Sweets.  Admission to the Falcons home opener will be FREE.

The Falcons are also looking for billet/host families for the 2010 summer.  Families receive a grocery allowance and an experience they will not soon forget.  The Falcons schedule mimics that of a professional baseball team, with the players on the road for half the summer months.

Season tickets, 10-game punch cards and Kids Club memberships are also available now, contact Ryan Watters at the Falcons headquarters at 250-763-4100 for more details.
