PRESS RELEASE – The Lake County Captains, Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, have announced its full 2010 promotional schedule, highlighted by 19 fireworks shows and a variety of premium giveaway items. The Captains begin their association with the Midwest League opening the season at home on Thursday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m. against the West Michigan Whitecaps, the Class A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a Captains magnet schedule.
The Captains will offer many premium giveaways throughout the season, including a Skipper Rock-N- Bobble in conjunction with Rock-N-Roll weekend July 2 and 3, presented by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Fathead Tradeables giveaway on two dates, and kid’s lunchboxes. The Captains will celebrate Christmas in July on July 25 with a Skipper Leg Lamp Bobble giveaway. The Captains have their annual fleece blanket giveaway on August 14 and fans will also receive comic books, baseball hats, replica jerseys, and team trading card sets at specific games throughout the year.
The second annual “Salute to Cleveland Sports History” night will be on July 24 as the club pays tribute to the rich history of sports in our region. Last year’s inaugural event received ESPN the Magazine’s “Minor League Promotion of the Year”. The Captains will continue its Ethnic Heritage nights and have two “Bark in the Park” nights on July 26 and August 31. Fans are encouraged to bring their canines to the ballpark on these nights to enjoy the game. The Captains also have a “Motorcycle Run and Rally” planned for June 6, “Guns and Hoses” on June 19, and NASCAR weekend May 22 and 23, featuring a racing simulator from Michigan International Speedway that fans can test their driving skills with.
In addition to great giveaways and fireworks, the 2010 season will mark the return of popular weeknight promotions including Buck Night Monday, presented by PNC Bank, Feed Your Face Wednesday and Thirsty Thursday, presented by WKNR 850 AM.
The popular Monday Buck Night will feature fifty cent Five Star Brand Hot Dogs, one dollar fries, chips, onion rings, popcorn, soda and beer. Thirsty Thursday’s will feature a nickel beer Happy Hour for one hour before game time and $1 draft beer and soda until 9 PM. The Captains will also feature a live local band or local DJ Karaoke prior to each Thursday night game. The military will be saluted on Thursday nights as well with “Military ID Nights”, presented by Lake County Speedway. Military members, their family and friends will receive $5 box seat tickets with a valid military ID.
Tuesday’s are now Two-for-Tuesdays and Kids Eat Free. Kids 12 and under with a paid admission receive a voucher for a free hot dog, fries and soda when they enter Classic Park. The Captains will offer a buy-one-get-one free on hot dogs, fries, onion rings, chips, soft pretzels and popcorn.
During Wednesday night games, Captains fans will eat to their heart’s content with the return of “Feed Your Face” night. For only $18, fans receive a game ticket and all-you-can-eat hot dogs, fries, onion rings, popcorn and chips.
2010 will include nine Friday Fireworks nights presented by Plevin and Gallucci and eight Saturday Fireworks nights presented by Drug Mart. The Captains will have a special Sunday fireworks show on July 25 in conjunction with Faith Night featuring a pre-game Catholic Mass.
Andrews Osborne Academy Family Fun Sunday’s will feature pre-game player autograph sessions, lots of concourse entertainment and the opportunity for kids to run the bases after the game.
