We have been wondering for some time if the American Defenders nickname would survive the move from Nashua to Pittsfield. As you know, Dan Duquette & Co. sold off the NECBL’s Pittsfield American Defenders to a group in Bristol, CT, and then relocated the Can-Am League’s American Defenders of New Hampshire to Pittsfield after things went south in Nashua.
This is pure speculation on our part, but could the new name for the team be the Pittsfield Colonials? We noticed that Mike Tetler, Director of Communications for the Can-Am League’s Worcester Tornadoes, registered the www.pittsfieldcolonials.com and www.colonialsbaseball.com domains on Feb. 18. Is there a connection?
