PRESS RELEASE – The Harrisburg Mall will be filled with Red, Gold and Blue as the Senators invade it on Wednesday night. Fans have the chance to become the game host, meet new Sens manager Randy Knorr, and win a luxury suite. This big event is this Wednesday February 10th, 5 to 7 pm at the Harrisburg Mall.
The Senators are looking for several individuals to be their on-field host this year and time is running out to sign-up. The Senators are looking for two or three individuals to split their 71 game home schedule.
Each game, the Sens will have one host. The hosts will be the most recognizable staff member for the Senators throughout the season. The host will be responsible for introducing fans to the ballpark, officiating on-field contests, and interviewing winning fans after prize giveaways. Potential hosts who take part in the audition will read from a script, and Senators’ employees will act as judges. The host receives $50 a game and should have a passion for entertaining and Senators baseball.
Hopeful hosts can sign up by contacting Emily Winslow at 717-231-4444, extension 109, or by sending an e-mail to ewinslow@senatorsbaseball. Sign-ups run through Tuesday, February 9th.
The event also includes the public introduction of the Senators 2010 manager, Randy Knorr. Randy is a former big league catcher, playing in 253 Major League games over 11 seasons. He last managed in 2008, guiding the Potomac Nationals (high-A Nationals) to the Carolina League Championship. He also earned two World Series rings with the Toronto Blue Jays. Fans will have an opportunity to interact with Randy by asking him questions and getting his autograph.
The Senators will also be drawing the two winners in their Luxury Suite raffle. The Senators are still taking $10 donations with all of the proceeds going directly to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, which is supporting relief efforts for children in Haiti. Each $10 donation earns that individual a raffle ticket, and fans can donate as much as they’d like. For example, if $100 is donated then that fan receives 10 raffle tickets. Fans can donate online, in person at the Sens front offices or at the Harrisburg Mall right up until the drawing after the event on Wednesday night.
Metro Bank Park is currently undergoing renovations as part of phase II of a two-phase project announced in December 2008. The new ballpark adds to a Harrisburg-Hershey minor league market that is ranked as the best in the country by Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal. The 2010 home opener is Thursday, April 15th at 7:00pm against the New Britain Rock Cats (Twins). The Senators are also hosting the 2010 Eastern League All-Star game, scheduled for July 14th at Metro Bank Park.
