Blue Crabs Introduce ‘Crabs for a Cause’ Fundraising Plan

PRESS RELEASE – After experiencing considerable success in the inaugural run of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs fundraising program last season, the organization is aiming to take the next step in 2010. The front office has introduced the “Crabs For A Cause” program, rife with added incentives for groups to bolster their financial situation and charitable efforts. There will be an informational meeting for anyone wishing to learn more about “Crabs For A Cause” on Thursday, February 4 at 6 p.m. in the Legends Club at Regency Furniture Stadium.

Groups must commit to buy 50 tickets to a single game upfront at a discounted rate and will then sell the tickets at the full $13.00 price and keep the profits. Upon purchase of the 50 tickets, the Blue Crabs will then open a group portal on somdbluecrabs.com in order for additional tickets to be purchased online for the group, should more than 50 tickets be desired. With online tickets, fans will purchase at the normal 13 dollar price and the group will earn money back on each ticket depending on the day. Groups participating in the fundraising program on a weekend Blue Crabs game will earn back four dollars per ticket, while a group participating on a weekday game will earn back five dollars per ticket.

In addition to these guidelines, each of the Blue Crabs 13 Thursday home games have been specially marked as “Thursday’s Crabs For A Cause.” Groups who participate in the fundraising program on Thursdays will receive the following additional benefits and incentives: earning $6.50 back per ticket sold, three in-game public address announcements, the group logo on the video board three times during the game and a table on the concourse to hand out information about their organization.

And it doesn’t stop with those benefits. Groups participating on Thursday will also receive a season long online promotional code to pass to friends, allowing the organization to earn three dollars for every ticket purchased at somdbluecrabs.com using that promo code to any game all season long. The top selling fundraising group will also receive a $200 bonus at the end of the season for their efforts.

“We have experienced a lot of success with our fundraising program already, and with these exciting changes we expect to continue growing. Last season alone we were able to raise $200,000 for non-profit groups between our fundraising program and Centerplate’s concession program,” said Blue Crabs General Manager Chris Allen.
