Northwoods and Legion ‘Work it Out’ in Wisconsin Rapids

As with many older ballparks in America where a pro or pro-style team comes to town, local amateur teams and American Legion clubs can sometimes end up on the short end of the stick.  To help alleviate concerns in Wisconsin Rapids, where a new summer collegiate Northwoods League team has set up shop, it appears that the Legion could receive payments in 2010 and 2011 for the purchase of Legion-owned equipment and for anticipated losses of concessions and signage revenues at Witter Field.  The Legion’s Ramblers and Rangers will continue to plays games at the ballpark, albeit with a more rigid schedule.  Apparently, the Northwoods League has been very accommodating when it comes to scheduling around key Legion games.  Read more here
