Ballpark Improvements for Reading Phillies Delayed Until 2010

A vote last week by the Pennsylvania Senate cleared the way for $10 million worth of renovations to FirstEnergy Stadium, home of the Reading Phillies.  However, because it is so late in the off season, Phillies owner Craig Stein has stated the project will have to wait until after the 2010 season.  Funding for the required local match (50 percent) will come from a $3.25 million loan from the city that the Phillies will repay, and $1.75 from the city’s capital budget.  Read more here.
