PRESS RELEASE – Cylo has been rocking out to the tune of “Ice Ice baby,” as he and the Barnstormers staff prepare for the 4th annual opening of the Ice Park on Saturday, December 12th. Of course, we couldn’t just open the gates in any ordinary fashion. This year we will welcome the beginning of the ice skating season with a Winter Fest party!
Winter Fest will be a day packed with fun for fans of all ages! In honor of the opening of Ice Park fans will have the opportunity to rent ice skates for FREE! Additionally, our young (or young again) fans can enjoy lunch with everyone’s holiday favorite Cylo Claus in the Wheatland Suite along with a special guest appearance by one of Cylo’s good friends and a big fan of the winter season … Coco, the lovable Hershey Bears mascot. A delicious lunch buffet will be served from 12:00-2:00 and fans will have the opportunity to take a picture with Cylo Claus! Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling Maureen Wheeler at 717-358-9841 or on the day of the event at the stadium for $10! Due to limited space we encourage you to order your tickets in advance.
The afternoon will feature plenty of activities to get you in the holiday spirit! Kids of all ages can enjoy ornament decorating, a coloring station and even write a letter to Santa! A station will also be set up for fans to send holiday greetings to soldiers serving overseas.
There will be plenty of entertainment to keep fans busy, including holiday performances from Celestial Brass to help you get in the holiday spirit and your favorite Christmas classic movies being played on Lancaster’s largest TV in the outfield of Clipper Magazine Stadium!
“Having an Opening Day party for the Ice Park is a way to welcome our fans back for the winter season,” said Barnstormers general manager Vince Bulik. “The Barnstormers staff, just like our fans, yearns for the start of the baseball season. We look forward to the Ice Park and this year the Winter Fest party as we have an opportunity to visit with our baseball fans and meet new fans!”
Opening weekend will also feature a Toys for Tots drive and a School Supply Drive to benefit Wharton Elementary. As a thank you for supporting these causes anyone who makes a contribution will receive a free skate rental for a future Ice Park visit.
Over the past three seasons the Ice Park has welcomed over 50,000 ice skaters. This season the Ice Park will be open Thursdays-Sundays every weekend through February 28, with an admission of $6 and skate rentals being an additional $3. As a reminder, your admission grants you unlimited skating for the entire day! The calendar also features skating with Cylo and friends every Thursday, movies on the video board every Saturday and kids 12 and under skate for half price on Sundays!
Regular Ice Park hours will be 6-10 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, noon-10 p.m. on Saturdays and noon-6 p.m. on Sundays.
