Yakima Bears Growling for New Park

The Single-A Northwest League’s Yakima Bears have been growing weary of outdated Yakima County Stadium.  The team would like to see a $20 million renovation of the facility or a new $28 million replacement that would include suites and all the amenities of today’s modern ballparks.  Ranked #170 in our 2009 Mega-Rankings with 1,917 fans per game, the Bears reportedly lost $37,000 this past season.  There is fear that the team could leave Yakima if a substantial facility investment is not made before the team’s lease expires in 2015.  Read more here and here.
