The City of St. Paul presented a plan to state lawmakers on Tuesday for a new $35 million stadium in Lowertown for the St. Paul Saints. To help fund the deal, the city is requesting $25 million from the state as part of the biennial bonding for capital projects in Minnesota. The proposal comes with a brand new design. Read more here. View renderings here. While we are hopeful that lawmakers will bite, we are not expecting miracles in these challenging budgetary times. That said, Midway Stadium is one of the worst ballparks in America. Indeed, the Saints have done an incredible job of making it a fun and quirky place to be over the years, but a dump is still a dump.
