SCBL Expands to Statesville, NC

The Southern Collegiate Baseball League has announced that Statesville, NC has been chosen as the location for a new franchise.  The team will be known as the Statesville Owls.  Statesville is a town of about 26,000 residents and is located about 85 miles from Forest City, NC, home of the summer collegiate Coastal Plain League’s Forest City Owls.  What’s the point?  While we appreciate the “Owls” connection to Statesville’s baseball past, from a business perspective, we would prefer to see a little more originality.  Read more here.
