We do not typically talk politics here at BBiz unless it somehow relates to the business, but having one of our own in the industry making a run for Congress is worthy of a blurb or two. On August 3, La Crosse Loggers owner and State Sen. Dan Kapanke (R) officially announced that he was running for Congress in the 3rd Congressional District in southwest Wisconsin. Seven-term incumbent Congressman Ron Kind (D) was exploring a possible Wisconsin gubernatorial bid, but he announced this afternoon that he has decided to take a pass on the race and instead seek an eighth congressional term. While this contest has yet to shake out, a battle between Kind and Kapanke could be one of the more interesting and competitive races in the 2010 mid-term elections. Watch Kapanke interview here.
