With this addition, we’ve achieved a significant milestone and look forward to our continued success,” stated Michael Cummings, AWBL CEO. “In addition, the synergies and partnership will play a significant role in the expansion of American West Baseball League to the North also; will enhance our ability to be one of the top rated minor baseball leagues on the West Coast.”

As it happens I have filed a letter of intent to shag an un-named set of supermodels and actresses on the west coast starting in 2014. I won’t tell you how or when or where but you have to know I am serious, I signed it and everything and have studied hot women extensively for years, even sent some letters previously.

I have questioned many things that the AWBL has done to this point, and so to have many others… does anybody else question how viable independent baseball can be on the West Coast and in Arizona?

  3. backslash_roomate

Wow! As a simple, every day, baseball fan all I can say is that we need baseball in southern Arizona. If this league can provide that, then they are most welcome! The release was indeed vague, maybe they were not allowed to disclose the details, we don’t know. If that was the case it might have been more sensible to keep to themselves, in any event, they were press release happy and did it, but the bottom line is we need indie baseball, specially in southern Arizona and it seems these guys are able to provide this.
Now, why must you bash them and try to ruin the image of something that could potentially be good is besides me. A few thoughts come to mind… it might be that some of you guys have a personal vendetta with the AWBL (and apparently every other indie league that existed in this side of the world!) or perhaps they did not want to share their toys with you…Did you try to do business with them and they didn’t let you in? Either way, ask your shrink how to deal with it, and let us enjoy baseball!

    • Have you enjoyed the Golden and No. American leagues? These are the same people who brought you that product.

      • backslash_roomate

No. American, not so much, the Golden, yes. Don’t know about the owners, nor biz people involved, but enjoyed a few games in Chico, Yuma and Tucson. Good, fun, affordable (specially with little kids!) and truly good quality baseball. The players strive to make their best, I believe in the hopes of being picked up by some affiliated team, of course! Maybe you have no faith in these guys, but for the looks of it, they seem to be adding teams and seem to be well organized. I don’t know, maybe they learned from previous mishaps! We ought to give them a chance.
        Tomorrow is another day!

Press releases are to release info. If I said I saw some person with some person doing something over there. Is that a good press release or would it be better if I said I saw President Obama and Mitt Romney dueling with light sabers in Hollywood? Bad example but it’s an example.

Everyone wants baseball to survive in the west. A good product helps all of indy baseball. But this product lacks. You say you enjoyed games and cheap prices. Well I know the prices weren’t cheap…maybe games were enjoyable. But the problem is the people in charge not the people on the field.

They don’t seem anywhere close to organized but everyone has their own view of things. But it’s almost January and Yuma is the only team. Not going by vague releases and ballparks that refuses to give leases to them. Territory means nothing if there is nowhere to play. Unless they’re playing in empty lots.

New version of the sandlot league.

People seem to focus on lack of experience, etc. The only way to gain experience is to do something and there is no primer on running a league. Someone with no experience and a good plan and the right people can make something happen.
This is where the problem is. No plan. Vague releases. And only having one ballpark at the end of December (Yuma).
And having people in charge who do not seem like they know what they’re doing. They couldn’t keep other teams in the previous league, no clue what marketing is…
It’s a shame that it looks like someone else will further poison the land in the west.

Same Sh.. different league. Isnt’ Cummings the same guy who bought Yuma for 100k from NAL When Kevin Outcault was pawning off Arizona Winter League. Is it possible to get experienced baseball guys to help run these Indy’s leagues to bring back some creditability. Cummings just another wanta be!

    • Mickey

From what I know they got Yuma for nothing, and OC for stock in their bogus company. They have NO control of the Arizona Winter League as that has still been discussed with the guys in Texas as a possibility to operate. It is seemingly impossible to fix where the AWBL is headed in just a few months since the first announcements with all the promises of changes, new faces and new markets we now have a front office full of failed GBL/NAL teams Ed Wong, Will Joyce, Mike Leva were all part of the failed venture in St. George, none of them with any other baseball experience at least Wong, Leva have credible careers that can help the league, while Joyce i think owns a Allstate Insurance Franchise and has no credible baseball experience and has been pegged as the “League President”. Then Sean Smock the “League Commissioner” was an assistant gm in Tucson, but lets face it most Assistant GM’s are just lowly sales guys and again nothing very credible, though I know a lot of former big leaguers that do not like or respect the guy at all he has a very bad rep with players. And now Michael Cummings as its been noted “Gene63″ on here has the least experience of any of them, his name is not connected with any credible business period! He owned Maui and we all see how that ended lol…So to be quite frank, with all of these TOP TITLED POSITIONS filled by nobodys “fantasy league” hopefuls I think it would be very hard to bring in a credible person with actual experience and ask them to take orders from these clowns.

Just a warning to everyone. Our system tracks IP addresses, and some of you are using multiple users names (pretending to be different people) using the same IP address. As we begin a new year, please be consistent and use the same name, or I will out you. Thank you.

What a joke lol this is complete bs, the AWBL again how do you expand to other markets when your “current teams” dont have ballparks other than Yuma…secondly, how legit are owners when every single ownership group and the league has solicited ownership via facebook and linkedin – not very classy or professional.

I can’t wait to see where this “league” ends up but as of right now the Pecos League has more credibility. What a waste of a press release, absolutely no information accept for a quote from Michael Cummings aka Gene63 on here boys, so be careful he will surely be on the defense to what we all say…

  7. That’s about the most vague thing I’ve read in a while. Doesn’t name the individual or the market, even the part of the country. They say they want to develop the northern cali area but don’t say that this un named individual is in the northern cali market or that the market is part of this agreement. And this individual – if he doesn’t want to be named, why make the announcement. So hey, thanks for the non-info. And “shooting to play ball” – what is this, a Slim Pickens movie?

  8. Fan of Baseball

I live on the west coast and haven’t heard a single thing about a city in Northern California wanting to build a minor league baseball stadium. In not naming the individual or the city it shows us all there is absolutely no validity to is press release. For myself it looks more like the AWBL is disgruntled because San Rafael wants nothing to do with there league.

  9. Certainly can’t argue with that.
