A press conference has reportedly been scheduled for Friday, Sept. 7, to announce that the indy pro Can-Am League is expanding to Trois Rivieres (QC). The “Eagles” will apparently begin play at Stade Fernand-Bédard (formerly known as Stade Municipal) next season. Read more here and here. This was a great franchise during the 1970′s with the Eastern League. Trois Rivieres has a great fan base, and combined with Quebec City, will be very successful.
I hope it works out. Hopefully the Capitales organize some bus trips for fans so we can go see Caps games there.
It has been a long time coming-baseball is back in Trois Rivieres and hopefully it will be a success. I am just worried about the Can-Am League.
According to one of the articles, there are five or six members of the ownership group, including hockey player Marc-André Bergeron from the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightening, former baseball player Emmanuel Turcotte, Can-Am League Commissioner Miles Wolff, and former MLB pitcher Éric Gagné.
