PRESS RELEASE – The Eau Claire Express baseball season may be over, but the team is excited to announce it will host a beer and barbecue festival, Hogs and Hops at the Ballpark, for the second consecutive year to celebrate the Labor Day weekend. The event, scheduled for 3:30-7:30 PM this Saturday, is sponsored in part by Charter, the Eau Claire Press Company and the Eau Claire Express.
Again this year, Hogs and Hops at the Ballpark will feature food selections from three notable vendors in the Chippewa Valley along with over 75 beers to sample for those over 21 years of age. Bar BQ Express, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit and Whiskey’s Grill and Bar will all be on hand showcasing a variety of their barbecue products and serving from the Express Fan Deck in right field. Beer samples will be distributed on the 1st base side of the stadium to all attendees that are of legal drinking age. Coke products will be made available to those that do not wish to drink beer or are under the age of 21. To top it off, Big Backyard will be performing for all attendees during the entire event.
Additional entertainment at Hogs and Hops will include barbecue cook-off contests, as was the case in the event’s inaugural year. Returning this year will be the Charter Corporate Cook-off in which teams from Chippewa Valley businesses compete for a traveling trophy and cash prize. If you and a few friends want to test your skills, have no fear as there is a competition for you as well. Judging will take place at the end of the event and winning participants will walk away with a cash prize!
Tickets can be purchased in advance for $25 at either the Express or Leader Telegram offices, both located in downtown Eau Claire. In addition, tickets are available at www.eauclairexpress.com or by calling 715-839-7788. Ticket prices will increase to $30 on the day of the event. The Carson Park box office will open at 3:00 PM on September 1 with gates opening at 3:30 PM. Event tickets include unlimited beer samples, along with $10 in food tickets that can be used at any of the three vendor booths. Additional tickets can be purchased for $1.00 apiece. Anyone attending the event as a designated driver will be admitted for a $5.00 fee and will receive $5.00 in food tickets to use at their discretion.
