Fort McMurray Representatives Visit Winnipeg, Seek AA Membership (UPDATED)

Tim Reid, CEO of the company that operates MacDonald Island Park in Fort McMurray (AB), was in Winnipeg (MB) Tuesday to meet with officials from the indy pro American Association to make a pitch for membership in the circuit.  The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo councillors recently approved a $127-million expansion of MacDonald Island that includes a new professional baseball stadium.  Read more here.  Thanks to Eddie Utley for the link.

Craig Tkachuk, who runs a Edmonton-based Westpro Productions and has been spearheading the effort to build a ballpark and bring a team to Fort McMurray, joined Reid in Winnipeg.  Tkachuk says he’s looking for investors but says he’ll fund a team himself if necessary to make baseball happen.  Read more here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the link.
