PRESS RELEASE – Huntsville is a growing city and their palate for great beer is expanding at a similar rate. The Huntsville Stars are proud to announce their beer selection has multiplied as well for the 2012 season to include over 17 different varieties of ice cold brews.
Fans will be happy to see the return of ballpark staples Budweiser, Bud Light, Amber Bock and Michelob Ultra. The new additions to the beer menu include Miller Light, Coors Light, Yuengling, Magic Hat, Blue Moon, Sweetwater 420 and Sam Adams Seasonal.
The Stars have also tapped into the local craft beer market by including north Alabama favorites Straight to Ale, Old Black Bear and Good People Brewery at the stadium. The selection of beer styles from those three breweries will change throughout the season so fans can get a good sampling of all they have to offer. Straight to Ale’s Monkeynaut IPA, which will be on tap on Opening Day this Sunday, recently won the “March Madness” of beer brackets hosted by The Huntsville Times.
“The Stars are a hometown team and love to support the hometown efforts of local businesses. We’re especially excited to partner with Straight to Ale, Old Black Bear and our friends in Birmingham, Good People Brewery, to expand our beer variety with a local, craft flair,” said Buck Rogers, General Manager of the Huntsville Stars.
In addition to an expanded beer roster, the Stars have added additional discount beer nights to the promotional calendar. Thirst-Aid Thursday, Grab Some Buds presented by 730 AM The Ump will be back every Thursday home game. All 16-ounce Budweiser drafts (Budweiser, Bud Light, Amber Bock and Michelob Ultra) will be just $2 through the seventh inning. On Tuesdays, the Stars have partnered with Buffalo Rock for Dew for Tuesdays. Two Mountain Dew bottle caps will get you $2 parking and a $2 ticket. Once inside the gates, all Budweiser and Miller product 16-ounce drafts will be just $2 through the end of the seventh inning. Additionally, the Stars are happy to announce the return of nightly happy hour. Every home game from the time the gates open until the first official pitch has been thrown all Budweiser and Miller product drafts will be just $2 as well.
The drink specials don’t just stop at beer. All 20-ounce Pepsi fountain products will also be just $2 during those special promotional dates and times.
The Stars close out a five-game series at Birmingham on Saturday before returning to “The Joe” on Sunday, April 15 for a 4:03 p.m. home opener. They open the season at home against the Tennessee Smokies (AA-affiliate Chicago Cubs) for a five-game series immediately followed by five games against the Jackson Generals (AA-affiliate Seattle Mariners)!
