Knights Announce Architectural and Construction Teams

PRESS RELEASE – The Charlotte Knights are pleased to announce today the re-engagement of the architectural and construction management teams for the Uptown Ballpark in Charlotte.

The architectural team will be lead by Odell Associates, Inc. in partnership with Ballpark Design Associates. The team from Odell brings together a number of local and national experts to complete the design of this ballpark project.

The construction management team will again be a joint venture of Rodgers Builders, Barton Malow and R.J. Leeper Construction.

“Odell’s Sports and Entertainment Design Studio is very excited to have the opportunity to continue our involvement with the Knights as the lead architect on the new Uptown Ballpark,” said Mike Woollen, Managing Principal, Odell Associates, Inc. “We have a strong Charlotte-based team, but we’re also continuing our association with Martin DiNitto, now with Ballpark Design Associates, who worked with Odell during the 2007-2008 preliminary design phase. Our Charlotte office is located in Third Ward near the ballpark site, so this is especially rewarding to be entrusted to a major project in our own neighborhood.”

“We are very pleased with the opportunity to be a part of this exciting project as a joint venture, which includes Rodgers, Barton Malow, and R. J. Leeper,” states Pat Rodgers, president and CEO of Rodgers Builders, Inc. “Our construction team looks forward to helping bring this long-anticipated project to fruition in center city Charlotte.”

“The teams assembled have proven expertise in their field and have been the core leaders of this project since its inception back in 2006,” states Charlotte Knights VP/General Manager Dan Rajkowski. “As we move forward, we felt that we needed to assemble the best team of professionals to lead this project to completion. We have a great compliment of locally owned and nationally recognized companies that have longstanding ties to our community. There are a number of great businesses within our region and we are pleased that we are able to continue with the teams that were with us from the beginning.”

The Charlotte Knights open the 2012 season on Thursday, April 5 against the Norfolk Tides at Knights Stadium.
