Shorebirds Add Two Front Office Staffers

PRESS RELEASE – The Delmarva Shorebirds, class “A” affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are excited to announce the addition of two new full-time front office staff members. Alyssa Gintant, Business Development Executive and Fred Schnarrs, Box Office Manager, complete the Shorebirds staff in preparation for the 2012 baseball season.

The Shorebirds returning front office staff includes General Manager Chris Bitters, who will embark on his sixth season with the team in 2012. The Shorebirds return 13 total staff members from prior seasons; Jimmy Sweet, David Bledsoe, Shawn Schoolcraft, Gail Potts, Sam Ward, Mike Steinhice, Zac Penman, Aaron Becker, Bret Lasky, David Super and Audrey Vane.

Gintant, who joined the Shorebirds staff on February 6, is responsible for organizing and executing special promotions tied to Shorebirds games and non-baseball events at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium ranging from Fan Fest, promotional theme nights, business meetings, stadium rentals and birthday parties. She comes to the Shorebirds after a stint as Promotions Director for the Pecos League (Independent Baseball) with a focus on the Las Cruces Vaqueros. Gintant graduated from New Mexico State where she majored in marketing. She was a setter on the Aggies volleyball team.

Schnarrs, who joined the Shorebirds staff in early January, will be responsible for overseeing the operation of the Shorebirds Box Office. He is also in charge of growing the Shorebirds Little League Fundraising program. The 24-year old was an Operations Intern for Ripken Baseball prior to joining the Shorebirds staff. He graduated from Lock Haven University, where he majored in sports administration.

“The addition of Schnarrs and Gintant will help our staff continue to grow Shorebirds baseball on the Eastern Shore,” said Shorebirds general manager Chris Bitters. “Our returning staff has a wealth of experience which helps us lay the foundation for the coming season.”

The Shorebirds open the 2012 season with an exhibition game against Salisbury University on April 3 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The South Atlantic League home opener is scheduled for April 12 against the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

The Shorebirds are celebrating 17-years of professional baseball on the Eastern Shore. During the 2009 season, the Shorebirds finished with an average attendance of 3,567 fans, the largest average since the 2002 season. In 2007, The Shorebirds had the top attendance based on market size in Minor League Baseball(tm), according to Sports Business Journal (Aug. 2008). In 2010, more than 6,000 fans packed Arthur W. Perdue Stadium nine times including a season high of 8,993 fans on August 7th. In 2011, the Shorebirds welcomed ten crowds of over 5,000 fans.
