PRESS RELEASE – Six young students from around the Quad Cities will have their artwork prominently displayed inside Modern Woodmen Park this season for winning the River Bandits’ Art Contest held this spring with area students.
“These students showed excellent creativity and ability with these drawings,” said team owner Dave Heller. “We will proudly display these works of art in our ballpark to reward the talents of our area youth.”
The first place winners in each age bracket are: Patrick Wader (Madison Elementary, K-3rd grade), Katie Walker (Reynolds Elementary, 4th-6th grade) and Carly Walker (Rockridge Jr. High, 7th-8th grade). The runners up are Benjamin Gabriel (Adams Elementary), Sam McCammant (Alan Shepard Elementary School) and Stevi Grace Mulvehill (Herbert Hoover Elementary).
“We were very impressed with the level of talent among our Quad Cities students,” said River Bandits general manager Kirk Goodman. “Because each piece of art was unique in its own special way, it was very difficult to judge these designs to determine our winners and we thank all of the many kids who partipated in the contest.”
All six students will be honored before tonight’s game (4/29) on the field in a special pregame ceremony. Each work of art submitted for the contest was reviewed by a panel made up of members of the River Bandits front office staff.
