Parra Named Voice of the Owls

PRESS RELEASE – The Forest City Owls today announced the hiring of Danny Parra as their Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the upcoming 2011 season. Parra will broadcast all 29 Owls home games on the CPL Web Pass service this season, with additional media relations duties for the team.

“I’m thrilled to become a part of a championship organization.” says Parra. I look forward to sharing in the excitement of another Petitt Cup championship.”

Parra is a 2011 graduate of the University of Miami, with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and American Studies. During his time as a student, he announced Miami Hurricanes baseball, basketball and football for WVUM, the student radio station at the University of Miami.

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Parra is the current co-host of the “Desayuno Deportivo” Spanish-language sports talk radio show on local ESPN Deportes affiliate. Parra also interned at the local NBC/Telemundo affiliate’s sports department last summer. Parra is the third University of Miami grad to land with the Owls, behind Alex Kushel and Andrew Green. “For me, it’s a dream come true to work in a place as savvy and passionate about baseball as Forest City.” says Parra.

The Forest City Owls are a member of the Coastal Plain League, entering their 15th season in the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 15th season, the Coastal Plain League features 15 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
