PRESS RELEASE - The Forest City Owls have announced their promotional schedule for the 2010 season. Included in the schedule are five fireworks dates, several give away nights, and the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game. A complete schedule can be viewed at
The season begins on Wednesday May 26 when the Owls host the Gastonia Grizzlies. The game is sponsored by King Law Office and the first 1000 fans will receive a free 2010 Owls magnet schedule. The Owls will also raise the 2009 Coastal Plain League championship banner before the game.
Fireworks will follow five games this year. The first show is scheduled for Friday May 28. The date is also 5/3 Bank night. The second fireworks show is on Saturday June 19. The first 1000 fans on June 19th will also receive a free 2009 CPL Championship pennant sponsored by Duke Energy. The Owls will celebrate America’s independence with fireworks on July 2nd sponsored by Fireside Books. To conclude the CPL All-Star Game fireworks will light up the sky on July 20, and the final fireworks show of the season will be on the home finale on July 31, sponsored by the United Way.
The Owls will recognize all former alumni on Thursday June 3, and will
present the 2009 team with their championship rings before the game. The Owls will wear throwback Rutherford County Owls hats to salute the original Owls for the game.
The Owls are also hosting several season long promotions this year. Mighty Dollar Monday is back and will feature $1 hot dogs, popcorn, and French fries at every Monday home game, compliments of Mighty Dollar stores. The Owls are offering Two for Tuesdays this year including two soft drinks for $4, two hamburgers for $5, and two general admission tickets for $8. Finally, Thirsty Thursdays will be introduced at McNair Field with all soft drinks and draft beer priced at $2 on Thursday home games.
Other businesses hosting game sponsorships this season include the Spindale Drug Store t-shirt give away on June 5, the U.S. Marine Corps. On June 6, Rutherford Life Services on June 11, the Daily Courier on June 13, Rutherford Weekly on June 18, Northland Cable on June 25, Courtside Steaks on July 10, Bayada Nurses on July 12, McCurry Deck Motors on July 14, Forest City Merchants on July 16, Blanton, Miller, and Moore Dentistry Team Photo give away on July 24, and Thera-Ssage on July 26.
The Forest City Owls are a member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 14th season, the Coastal Plain League features 15 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
